Paul Wesley as James T. Kirk on SNW

If Roger Moore had been cast as James Bond before Sean Connery, some may have said that Sean was missing the humor, thus taking the role too seriously. In another timeline with a different chronology, I wonder what fans would say about Shatner’s portrayal of Kirk had Paul Wesley been born earlier and played the role first. Would fans say that Bill was over the top compared to his predecessor? Would we still embrace Bill as we have in this reality? The role of Pike has been cast three times, each actor delivering their own distinct performance. Jeffrey Hunter never struck me as the same type of man as Anson Mount’s version, nor Bruce Greenwood as flexible as Mount. If anything, Bruce was a surrogate father figure for Chris Pine’s Kirk. Would Richard Donner and James Gunn agree on who Superman is beyond the suit? Would Adam West tell Michael Keaton to loosen up? What makes a character beyond the initial casting or the creator’s vision?
